Located 12km from the railbike track, Escale Pêche will show you behind the scenes of sea-fishing and the expertise involved. Enjoy an immersive experience at the auction house in the fishing port of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie.
A fun and richly presented tour that takes you through the different stages, from the fish swimming in the ocean to the dish served in your plate. The tour opens with a film that plunges you, through individual testimonies, into the lives of people involved in the fishing industry. You’ll then find out which species are fished and the techniques used. You’ll visit the reconstituted interior of a boat and discover the stages of the process that begins on arrival in the port: unloading, sorting, calibration, the atmosphere of the fish auction, and the work of the fishmongers. Your tour continues on the terrace above the unloading quay, where you may be lucky enough to see boats arriving and unloading their catch.
